(The Ever-Acceptor of Repentance)

The Acceptor of Repentance, The Oft-Forgiving, The Acceptor of our Return

Allah is At Tawwab, The One who beckons for our return. He repeatedly turns mankind towards repentance should they journey temporarily on the wrong path. Allah is lenient and restores grace to those who repent and forgives those who seek forgiveness.

From the root t-w-b which has the following classical Arabic connotations: to return to return to goodness, to repent to be restored to be rewarded for deeds to be repeatedly summoned or called

Then exalt [Him] with praise of your Lord and ask forgiveness of Him. Indeed, He is ever Accepting of repentance. (Quran 110:3)

فَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ وَاسْتَغْفِرْهُ ۚ إِنَّهُ كَانَ تَوَّابًا ‎﴿٣﴾‏

And We did not send any messenger except to be obeyed by permission of Allah. And if, when they wronged themselves, they had come to you, [O Muhammad], and asked forgiveness of Allah and the Messenger had asked forgiveness for them, they would have found Allah Accepting of repentance and Merciful. (Quran 4:64)

وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا مِن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا لِيُطَاعَ بِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ ۚ وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ إِذ ظَّلَمُوا أَنفُسَهُمْ جَاءُوكَ فَاسْتَغْفَرُوا اللَّهَ وَاسْتَغْفَرَ لَهُمُ الرَّسُولُ لَوَجَدُوا اللَّهَ تَوَّابًا رَّحِيمًا ‎﴿٦٤﴾‏

 

Doc5

O you who have believed, avoid much [negative] assumption. Indeed, some assumption is sin. And do not spy or backbite each other. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his brother when dead? You would detest it. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is Accepting of repentance and Merciful. (Quran 49:12)

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اجْتَنِبُوا كَثِيرًا مِّنَ الظَّنِّ إِنَّ بَعْضَ الظَّنِّ إِثْمٌ ۖ وَلَا تَجَسَّسُوا وَلَا يَغْتَب بَّعْضُكُم بَعْضًا ۚ أَيُحِبُّ أَحَدُكُمْ أَن يَأْكُلَ لَحْمَ أَخِيهِ مَيْتًا فَكَرِهْتُمُوهُ ۚ وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَوَّابٌ رَّحِيمٌ ‎﴿١٢﴾‏

Our Lord, and make us Muslims [in submission] to You and from our descendants a Muslim nation [in submission] to You. And show us our rites and accept our repentance. Indeed, You are the Accepting of repentance, the Merciful. (Quran 2:128)

 رَبَّنَا وَاجْعَلْنَا مُسْلِمَيْنِ لَكَ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِنَا أُمَّةً مُّسْلِمَةً لَّكَ وَأَرِنَا مَنَاسِكَنَا وَتُبْ عَلَيْنَا ۖ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيمُ ‎﴿١٢٨﴾‏

الْبَرُّ

AL-BARR

AlBar

(The Fountain-Head of Truth)

The Source of All Goodness, The Righteous, The One who is kind to His creatures

Allah is Al-Barr, The One who is the great benefactor, the most righteous and the source of goodness. He is ample in kindness and desires good to people bestowing them with health, wealth, and happiness. He is ever merciful and compassionate. He is The One who covered them with His sustenance and specified whoever He willed among them by His support, protection, and special mercy.

From the root b-r-r which has the following classical Arabic connotations: to be devoted, affectionate, gentle to be just and proper, honest, truthful to have regard for the circumstances of another to be beneficent, to bestow bountiful gifts to reward for service, recompense to behave courteously, to do good to be benign, gracious, kindly to be pious, virtuous, righteous to be ample, extensive

Indeed, we used to supplicate Him before. Indeed, it is He who is the Beneficent, the Merciful.” (Quran 52:28)

  إِنَّا كُنَّا مِن قَبْلُ نَدْعُوهُ ۖ إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْبَرُّ الرَّحِيمُ ‎﴿٢٨﴾‏

.....Allah intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship and [wants] for you to complete the period and to glorify Allah for that [to] which He has guided you; and perhaps you will be grateful. (Quran 2:185)

 .... يُرِيدُ اللَّهُ بِكُمُ الْيُسْرَ وَلَا يُرِيدُ بِكُمُ الْعُسْرَ وَلِتُكْمِلُوا الْعِدَّةَ وَلِتُكَبِّرُوا اللَّهَ عَلَىٰ مَا هَدَاكُمْ وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ ‎﴿١٨٥﴾

الْمُتَعَالِي

AL-MUTA’ALI

AlMutahali

(The Extremely Exalted One)

The Most Exalted, The High Exalted, The One who is clear from the attributes of the creation.

Allah is Al-Muta’ali, The One who is most high and exalted above all creation. He is far beyond any imagination, thought, and the human mind is to narrow to understand his true greatness.

From the root ‘a-l-w which has the following classical Arabic connotations: to be high, elevated, lofty to be exalted, to rise up, to ascend to be higher to exceed, surpass to overcome, overwhelm to advance, promote, rise above to mount, be overtop, eminent

And [saying], “Be not haughty with Allah. Indeed, I have come to you with clear authority. (Quran 44:19)

 وَأَن لَّا تَعْلُوا عَلَى اللَّهِ ۖ إِنِّي آتِيكُم بِسُلْطَانٍ مُّبِينٍ ‎﴿١٩﴾

[He is] Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, the Grand, the Exalted. (Quran 13:9)

 عَالِمُ الْغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ الْكَبِيرُ الْمُتَعَالِ ‎﴿٩﴾

الْوَالِي

AL-WAALI

AlWalii

(The Holder of Supreme Authority)

The Governor, The One who owns things and manages them.

Allah is Al-Waali, The One who is the sole planner and governor of all things. He is fully supportive, helpful and master of all. He manages and disposes of things at his will based on his judgement.

From the root w-l-y which has the following classical Arabic connotations: to be near, close, nearby to be a friend, helper, supporter, maintainer to defend, guard (lit. friendly dealing) to be in charge, to turn one toward something to be the master, owner, lord

Indeed, We will support Our messengers and those who believe during the life of this world and on the Day when the witnesses will stand. (Quran 40:51)

 إِنَّا لَنَنصُرُ رُسُلَنَا وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا فِي الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَيَوْمَ يَقُومُ الْأَشْهَادُ ‎﴿٥١﴾

.......Indeed, Allah will not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves. And when Allah intends for a people ill, there is no repelling it. And there is not for them besides Him any patron. (Quran 13:11)

.... إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يُغَيِّرُ مَا بِقَوْمٍ حَتَّىٰ يُغَيِّرُوا مَا بِأَنفُسِهِمْ ۗ وَإِذَا أَرَادَ اللَّهُ بِقَوْمٍ سُوءًا فَلَا مَرَدَّ لَهُ ۚ وَمَا لَهُم مِّن دُونِهِ مِن وَالٍ ‎﴿١١﴾‏

75.

الظَّاهِرُ

AZ-ZAAHIR

AdDhahir

(The Perceptible)

The Manifest, The Conspicuous, The Evident

Allah is Az-Zaahir, The One who is evident and conspicuous. He made himself evident without being visible. The very essence and attributes are shown through all his creation.

From the root z-h-r which has the following classical Arabic connotations: to be visible, manifest, obvious, clear, distinct to open, to come out, to cause to appear after being concealed to be conspicuous, distinct to ascend, mount, have higher status to have the upper hand, subdue, overcome to endorse, help, aid, support others, render superior

He is the First and the Last, the Ascendant and the Intimate, and He is, of all things, Knowing. (Quran 57:3)

 هُوَ الْأَوَّلُ وَالْآخِرُ وَالظَّاهِرُ وَالْبَاطِنُ ۖ وَهُوَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيمٌ ‎﴿٣﴾‏

We will show them Our signs in the horizons and within themselves until it becomes clear to them that it is the truth. But is it not sufficient concerning your Lord that He is, over all things, a Witness? (Quran 41:53)

 سَنُرِيهِمْ آيَاتِنَا فِي الْآفَاقِ وَفِي أَنفُسِهِمْ حَتَّىٰ يَتَبَيَّنَ لَهُمْ أَنَّهُ الْحَقُّ ۗ أَوَلَمْ يَكْفِ بِرَبِّكَ أَنَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ شَهِيدٌ ‎﴿٥٣﴾‏

It is He who has sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth to manifest it over all religion, although they who associate others with Allah dislike it. (Quran 9:33)

  هُوَ الَّذِي أَرْسَلَ رَسُولَهُ بِالْهُدَىٰ وَدِينِ الْحَقِّ لِيُظْهِرَهُ عَلَى الدِّينِ كُلِّهِ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ الْمُشْرِكُونَ ‎﴿٣٣﴾‏ ۞

76.

الْبَاطِنُ

AL-BAATIN

(The Imperceptible)

The Hidden, The Secret One, The Inner One, The Knower of Hidden Things

Allah is Al-Baatin, or The One who is hidden or secret. Allah is unseen but his existence is known through signs. Allah immanent operating within all of creation. The one who is the secret inner companion.

From the root b-t-n which has the following classical Arabic connotations: to be concealed, to lie hidden to penetrate, to be inside.

He is the First and the Last, the Ascendant and the Intimate, and He is, of all things, Knowing. (Quran 57:3)

هُوَ الْأَوَّلُ وَالْآخِرُ وَالظَّاهِرُ وَالْبَاطِنُ ۖ وَهُوَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيمٌ ‎﴿٣﴾‏

[He is] Knower of the unseen, and He does not disclose His [knowledge of the] unseen to anyone Except whom He has approved of messengers, and indeed, He sends before each messenger and behind him observers (Quran 72:26-27)

عَالِمُ الْغَيْبِ فَلَا يُظْهِرُ عَلَىٰ غَيْبِهِ أَحَدًا ‎﴿٢٦﴾
